5 Exercise Mistakes to Avoid

Exercise relieves stress, boosts energy levels, and, overall, makes life easier.  But before you set foot in the gym, it’s essential to be aware of the following exercise mistakes and how they can harm your health.

1. Not Having a Realistic Goal

Unrealistic goals only lead to frustration, which can discourage you from exercising.  Think about what you expect to gain by exercising and determine if it’s realistic for you.

2. Holding Your Breath

Hold your breath during a bicep curl, and you’ll feel your muscles burn out faster.  Why?  Because your muscles use oxygen as fuel.  Breathe out when lifting weights, and breathe in when lowering them.

3. Not Drinking Enough Water

Did you know that being dehydrated can make you tired?  Take frequent sips of that H2O before, during, and after your workout.

4. Lifting Too Heavy

Lifting too heavy can wreak your form, leading to injuries down the line.  Stick with lighter weights and go from there.

5. Exercising on an Empty Stomach

Working out on an empty stomach can cause your blood sugar levels to drop, making you feel dizziness, weakness, or headaches.  Choose a balanced meal rich in carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats beforehand.
