Be honest: Do you actually enjoy working out? Do you look forward to it and enjoy every moment of it? Or do you despise every second of it and “get it over with”? If your workout is more on the monotonous side, then your health could be in jeopardy.
When you hate working out, you’re more likely to fall off the exercise wagon. This can be problematic because most of the benefits of exercise come in the long term, like having stronger bones and muscles. So, when it comes to creating the perfect workout, it’s more than breaking a sweat and feeling the burn. It’s also about how much fun you’re having.
To make your workout more engaging and enjoyable, I recommend looking back at your childhood. What exercises did you love to do at recess? Did you like using the monkey bars? Did you like playing tag with your friends?
When I first started working out, I HATED doing push-ups. I just found them to be boring. So, I thought about what would make my toddler-aged self smile, and I came up with a fun push-up variation: bear crawl push-ups.
I also loved to dance a lot back in my elementary school days, so now I play “Just Dance” as a fun warm-up and cool-down.
If you’re not finding much success with making your workout fun, you can always reach out to a personal trainer. They can help you design a fun workout to help you achieve your fitness goals.
